Airsafe offers a broad range of groundwater, waste water and drinking water testing and analysis, in support of site remediation, environmental studies and other projects. Most often it’s part of a bigger picture, monitoring groundwater while a contaminated site is investigated or remediated, checking waste water before it’s discharged, confirming a drinking water supply is safe, or tracking how contamination is moving through the ground over time.
When water testing matters on a site
Water is often where contamination shows up, and where it spreads. A few common cases:
- Groundwater on contaminated sites, tested during investigation, remediation and validation to confirm contamination is being dealt with and isn’t migrating off site. Leaking fuel tanks at former service stations, for instance, contaminate groundwater as well as soil.
- Waste water, tested before discharge to confirm it meets the relevant limits.
- Drinking water, tested against the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines where a supply needs to be confirmed safe.
- Surface and estuary water, relevant where disturbed acid sulfate soils or site run-off can affect nearby waterways.
How we test water quality
- Our consultants inspect the site and recover water samples using sound, repeatable sampling methods, the sampling matters as much as the analysis for reliable results.
- Samples are analysed at a NATA-accredited laboratory. NATA, the National Association of Testing Authorities, is recognised by the Australian Government as the national authority for accrediting laboratories, so NATA-accredited results are ones you can have confidence in for decisions and for regulators.
- Results are assessed against the relevant water quality guidelines, the Australian and New Zealand Guidelines for Fresh and Marine Water Quality, the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, and groundwater protection guidance, depending on the water and its use.
- We report the findings and, where needed, prepare associated management plans to meet legislative, regulatory or project requirements.
For the wider site picture, see our Contaminated Land Assessments page.
Independent results, no stake in the outcome
Airsafe is an independent consultant. We collect and test the water and tell you what the results mean, we don’t sell the treatment plant, the remediation or the discharge system. Where works are needed, others carry them out to the approach we’ve set out. Because we’ve no stake in the result, the data is just the data, which is what makes it useful to you and to a regulator.

“We recently appointed Airsafe to undertake air monitoring and reporting at a brownfield development site during the demolition stage. Their proactive, professional and cost and time-efficient approach and implementation were excellent.”
Carl O. Peterson, December 2021
“AIRSAFE has become our go-to company for all air monitoring needs. Working for a large paint company, we’ve found their service not only exceptional but also backed by valuable advice. They are consistently reliable, flexible, and a pleasure to work with. These qualities made it an easy decision to choose them as our preferred supplier.”
Nik Pappas, November 2025
“I use Airsafe on a regular basis for commercial construction. Liam Matthews and the Airsafe team always get the job done professionally, safely, and in a prompt manner as required. If only I could give more stars.”

Groundwater, waste water and drinking water, mostly in support of contaminated site work, environmental studies and compliance. That includes monitoring groundwater through a site investigation or remediation, checking waste water before discharge, and confirming a drinking water supply is safe. At a NATA-accredited laboratory. We recover the samples on site using sound sampling methods, then have them analysed by a lab accredited for the relevant tests, which is what gives the results the weight they need for decisions and for regulators.
-
It depends on the water and how it’s used. We assess against the relevant guidelines, the Australian and New Zealand Guidelines for Fresh and Marine Water Quality for environmental waters, the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines for drinking water, and groundwater protection guidance for groundwater, and explain plainly what the results mean for your site or project.
-
No. Airsafe tests the water and tells you what the results mean. Any treatment, remediation or discharge works are carried out by others, to the approach we’ve set out. Keeping testing separate from the works keeps the results independent.
